Location: Sheraton Raleigh Hotel - Main Lobby
Ideally, around 7:00 PM, Brittany and Jason will begin to head down the elevator to the lobby where Brittany will hopefully expect us to head out the front of the hotel to go to the nearby Oxford bar (first venue we visited together in Raleigh). Before we do that, I'd like to head down to the lobby with Brittany. At some point, I'm certain Brittany will expect us to reenact how we first met (because we've talked about reenacting this for a long time now). The expectation for this will be her heading down and back up the escalator. I plan to have us sit down and talk after that, then I'll likely propose at that time. After I propose and at the right time, I will guide her attention to where everyone is standing on the 3rd floor balcony so she can see you. Then, I will hopefully be able to take a breath and not pass out, haha.
Depending on the exact time of the proposal, we have dinner planned at the same restaurant we ate at on the day we first met. After dinner for anyone able and willing, we will head from the restaurant over to "C Grace Cocktail Bar", which is a cool jazz bar that Brittany and I visited after dinner when we first met. We should ideally be at C Grace before 8:40 pm.
After the proposal, we will be heading over to eat at the same restaurant Brittany and I ate at when we first met, Second Empire Restaurant. As stated on their website, Second Empire is a dining experience that combines an atmosphere of classical history and elegance with a selection of cuisine that is as exquisitely unique as it is delicious. Located in the beautifully restored Dodd-Hinsdale House in downtown Raleigh, Second Empire satisfies the highest of standards. Our delectable menu and polished service that have won us the AAA Four Diamond Award, the DiRoNa Award and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1998 will assure you a truly unique dining experience. Our Tavern and new Atrium Room provide a more casual feel and lighter fare menu without sacrificing excellence.
Just when we thought we couldn't have any more fun or any better conversations, C. Grace was recommended to us at dinner as a great place to relax and listen to great jazz music. So, to reminisce of our first date, we'll head over to C. Grace, which opened on November 2, 2011, as a combined effort of Catrina Godwin, business Owner, and Matthew Bettinger, General Manager. Although the location had previously housed several bars, Catrina set out to build an interior and environment unique to the space and to Raleigh. With the re-emergence of cocktail culture being embraced in many mid-sized cities around the U.S., a cocktail driven bar in the heart of Raleigh, NC seemed a logical next step for the establishment’s conceptual evolution. C. Grace evokes memories of classic jazz clubs where the lights are low, the jazz is hot, the drinks are strong and the nights, full of merriment.

I cannot express with words how excited I am to become Mrs. Roach & get to love this incredible man forever! His love inspires me, not just on this day but every single day. He loves me with a deep love that I have only dreamed of, a love that always puts me before himself, a love that I know without a doubt is genuine, real....and forever. God is so good for allowing me to meet & spend the rest of my life with the amazing, selfless, brilliant, gorgeous, inspiring, generous, thoughtful, incredible love of my life.
I could not have imagined a more PERFECT day!!! Everyone who knows Jason knows that I am the luckiest girl in the entire world! He had been super giddy the past few weeks (I told my sis he was like a crazy squirrel last week haha), so I figured this day was coming soon. Even though I was expecting this day to come in the near future, Captain Kate & my sissy Alese were super sneaky....they made me believe it wasn't going to be on this day. In the words of Alese, "you're not that special, Brittany" haha. She threw me off by convincing me it was going to be closer to my birthday. Although there were a few hints on the big day, Jason covered each one of them well so I really had no idea! He started to get nervous when we came up the escalator. Then, he wanted to awkwardly sit down. I spotted a photographer and wondered what she was taking photos of. I knew he was going to propose as soon as we stood and he started his (super loooooong) speech ;-) I was overwhelmed with emotion and couldn't stop sobbing. I don't remember what all he said but I wanted to say, "alright, do it already!". When he got down on one knee, he said he was tired of calling me his girlfriend & wanted to call me his wife. I don't think my answer was yes but rather "nothing in the world would make me happier". The ring was stunning. Everyone started cheering in the hotel. I looked up to see a group of people cheering on the balcony. At second glance, I thought they looked familiar. And then, completely overwhelmed, I realized it was MY FAMILY!!!! Mom, dad, sissies, bros...what?! But how?! They had been hiding behind the bushes the whole time! The manager at the hotel came up to me and said "You have no idea" - meaning, I have no idea what went into Jason's big plan. Little did I know, Jason had a detailed schedule (minute by minute) of the entire day. We all went out to dinner, to the jazz bar, and had an amazing night celebrating! Jason wined & dined my family, my little bro had calamari for the 1st time, my sissy kept us laughing with her constant humor, I got the hiccups, & I stayed up chatting with my love about all of the details until 4am!...did I mention it was PERFECT?!
