In the infinite world of the web, there was match.com. Brittany joined after being referred from her friend. Living alongside the ocean in the small town of Atlantic Beach, Brittany grew to a point of frustration with the lack of suitors. Struggling with the thought that she may have to settle, she expanded her search up to 300 miles. Meanwhile, in Charlotte, NC the search was on as Jason was equally on a mission to find that one person who he was meant for.
Brittany: "If you've seen the youtube matrix, I am a unicorn. Haha, jk I'm not that arrogant. I love life! I am a passionate person...about God, helping others, cooking and baking. I'm an extrovert (LOVE people) and super laid back. I wake up in a great mood. I take joy in the little things in life. I have five brothers and a sister, who are fabulous! I am a woman after God's heart and am looking for the same in a man..."
Jason: "I'm just looking for the perfect girl to be my partner in crime! I am a very loyal and passionate person with very specific goals for my life and am willing to work hard to achieve them. I am at the point in my life where I am ready to buy a house and start thinking about a family. I can be quiet when you first meet me, but I am really a goofball at heart. I am a good listener and will move mountains for the right person..."
The First Message from Brittany "Adjusting the Sails":
"I love your quote: "You cannot change the wind, but you can adjust the sails" ... I really enjoyed your profile & think we have a lot in common. I have been described as both upbeat and laid back. I'm a foodie as well! (I tell you about my bakery & cinnamon rolls)...I know there is a bit of distance between us, but I'm a firm believer in quality over proximity. --Britt"
Jason's Response (Yes, the same day):
"Hey there Britt! Never been to Atlantic Beach, but anywhere on the ocean sounds amazing to me! I enjoy going to Charleston quite a bit and love the food there. That's cool you had a home bakery...and cinnamon rolls with maple/coffee frosting...uhm, yes please...I'll take a couple dozen!!" [...Jason continued to ask questions and talked about places he's lived...] "So, you're a hopeful romantic, baking extraordinaire AND a unicorn?!...well, you know that that means...I must report you to the authorities for analysis and cloning! :)
--Jason, by the way!"
Brittany and Jason continued to email...one long novel after another!! Sooo, Brittany said "Hey Bub" why don't we chat?! Jason called Brittany and they ended up chatting on the phone for hours! From that moment on, and with each new interaction, from phone call to "Hey Mister--Why Don't we Skype?", Jason and Brittany talked and laughed for hours and hours at a time.
"Brittdnee, I wanna go on a date, too!!" These were the heart-melting words of Brittany's niece Daphne as she watched Brittany get ready to go met Jason face-to-face for the first time in Raleigh, North Carolina. Unfamiliar with Raleigh, Jason suggested that they both park at a prominent hotel downtown, meet in the hotel lobby and go from there to their reserved table at a nearby restaurant. In the hotel lobby, Jason was nervously awaiting Brittany's arrival, when at that moment, he saw her coming up the escalator. "Sparks flying. Emotions running high;" Jason knew he was hooked right at that moment. He knew from the previous conversations with Brittany that this woman was a gem! She was like no other person he had ever met...truly one of a kind! However, what he didn't fully realize at that moment, was how much he would eventually grow to admire, love and respect her well beyond the splendor of her physical beauty!
Hanging out at a bar across the street prior to their dinner reservations, Jason and Brittany talked so much...about their search for the right person, about their careers, hobbies, family.....well, next thing they knew, they ended up missing their dinner reservations. So, one Uber ride later, they made their way to "Second Empire Restaurant and Tavern" where they wined-and-dined, chatting like they had known each other for years. Yes, the food was excellent, but nothing compared to the chemistry and conversation they shared. After dinner, Jason and Brittany made their way to a classic jazz club where they continued to talk and laugh with each other, like nobody else was even there.
The day Brittany and Jason were scheduled to fly out to Chicago, someone decided to set fire to a building at the Chicago O'hare Airport, grounding more than 2,000 flights that day. With Brittany's layover stuck in Charlotte, Jason decided to make the best of the cancellation. So, after picking her up from the airport, they went out on the town to eat some great food listen to some live music and dance the night away at a fun 80's dance club. The next day, their flights were setup to finally head off to Chicago!
Arguably, Chicago ended up being the best trip Jason and Brittany had ever been on! And, what did they do, you ask? ... Not a whole lot other than eat, drink, and talk. Completely enamored with each other, they asked question after question, learning as much about each other as they could, especially as they bonded over their shared love for food. Some of their favorite moments together included simply sitting on a bench, being goofy and chatting for hours and of course the time when Jason busted out his Julia Child impression, making Brittany laugh until she cried. Brittany thought Jason was so funny, but the funny thing was that Jason thought Brittany was hilarious...making him laugh and smile so much that he noticed his face and cheeks were tired and sore by the time he'd go to bed! From this moment on, Jason and Brittany would Skype every single weeknight (for hours at a time) and drive over 11 hours every weekend just to see each other for but only a couple of days. This was becoming a journey of attraction, laughter, admiration, friendship, comfort, and yes LOVE like they've never experienced before. As they grew closer with each passing day, it became clear that there was a greater power with a greater love and a greater plan that brought these two together for a greater purpose. From that moment on, you guessed it, they were...
